Pre-Teen and Teen Programs
For Students Ages 12 to 17
Longmont Little Homeschool Enrichment (LLHSE) offers dynamic, hands-on enrichment programs designed specifically for pre-teen and teen learners. These programs encourage independence, curiosity, and real-world skill development while supporting each student’s individual homeschool journey.
Students may choose to participate in one or multiple programs, allowing families the flexibility to build a schedule that best fits their interests and goals. Our current offerings for older students include Equine Science, Swim & Marine Science, and HOWL (Hands-On Wilderness Learning)—each providing immersive, experience-based learning beyond the traditional classroom.
Through outdoor exploration, scientific inquiry, and skill-building experiences, students gain confidence, deepen their interests, and form meaningful connections with peers in a supportive community.
Please note, LLHSE enrichment classes are designed to supplement, not replace, your homeschool curriculum. Parents or guardians remain responsible for teaching all additional subjects required by the Colorado Department of Education.

Each student receives horseback riding instruction each week.
Equine Science
Friday from 9:00AM - 2:30PM
Our Equine Science Program is a hands-on, immersive learning experience offered on Fridays in and near Ft. Lupton, Colorado. Students explore the science, care, and joy of working with horses through engaging, real-world instruction.
Throughout the year, students study horsemanship, grooming, and equine anatomy, along with pasture management, veterinary care basics, and proper feeding and care. Learning is enriched through guest speakers, leather crafting, and additional horse-related skills and crafts.
This program is designed to support a wide range of experience levels—from simple horse exposure and enjoyment to building the foundational knowledge and confidence needed to own and care for a horse in the future.
Students learn alongside our beloved equine teachers: Blue and Ember, along with Popcorn, our cheeky Shetland pony who is always ready to help.
Swim & Marine Science
Tuesday from 8:30AM - 10:30AM
We are excited to partner with Ocean First in Boulder, CO to offer a truly unique STEM + Swim program combining marine science education with professional swim instruction in a heated, indoor saltwater pool.
Students participate in Ocean First’s swim program, featuring:
-
45-minute lessons
-
Small group ratio of 1:4
-
Ability-based groupings for individualized progress
In addition, students take part in a Marine Science class taught by Ocean First educators using their ocean-focused curriculum. Lessons are grouped by age and grade level and emphasize hands-on learning, marine biology, and environmental stewardship.
This program is eligible for state-funded homeschool enrichment, with self-pay options also available.
